Product Description

Structural composition

Body and bonnet

The valve body and valve cover are the main housing components of carbon steel gate valves. They are usually made of cast carbon steel (such as WCB carbon steel, which meets ASTM A216 standards). This material is strong, able to withstand a certain amount of pressure, and its shape is designed to accommodate internal components such as ram and valve stem, and provide channels for the flow of media. The valve cover is used to seal the upper part of the valve body, prevent media leakage, and provide a support and sealing structure for the movement of the valve stem.

Ram

The ram is the key component to control the flow rate of the medium. It can be a wedge (such as an elastic wedge or a rigid wedge) or a parallel ram. Wedge gate in the closing process, through the wedge to achieve a better seal. The parallel gate is sealed by the parallel fitting of the gate and the seat. The ram is also usually made of carbon steel, and the surface may be subjected to special treatments, such as surfacing cemented carbide, to improve its wear and corrosion resistance, especially if it is frequently opened and closed and subjected to high speed media wash.

Valve stem

The stem is connected to the hand wheel or drive device and the ram, which is used to transfer the operating force and move the ram up and down. It is generally made of medium carbon steel (such as 45# steel, in accordance with GB/T 699 standard), and the surface will be chrome plated or other anti-corrosion treatment to enhance its corrosion resistance. At the same time, the stem needs to have sufficient strength and toughness to prevent bending or breaking during operation.

Valve seat

The valve seat is the part that works with the gate to seal. It can be a metal seat, or it can be a composite seat with rubber, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and other soft materials embedded on the surface of the metal seat. Metal seats have higher strength and high temperature resistance, while soft material seats provide better sealing performance, especially for low pressure and room temperature conditions.

Working principle

When it is necessary to open the carbon steel gate valve, the stem is moved upward by rotating the hand wheel (manual operation) or a driving device (such as an electric or pneumatic device). The stem drives the gate up, removing the gate from the seat, thus opening the channel through which the medium can pass smoothly through the valve. When the valve needs to be closed, the reverse operation, the valve stem drives the gate down, the gate and the seat are closely fitted, and the flow channel of the medium is cut off to achieve sealing.

Application field

Petrochemical industry

In the process of petroleum refining, it is used for the transportation pipeline of crude oil and refined oil to control the medium flow between different process links. In chemical production, it is used for the transportation of various chemical raw materials and products, such as acid, alkali, salt solution and organic chemicals pipeline system.

Thermal power industry

Used for conveying water, steam and other media. For example, in the inlet pipe and steam output pipe of the boiler, the flow rate is regulated through the carbon steel gate valve to ensure the normal operation of the power generation process.

Municipal water supply and drainage system

In the urban water supply pipeline, as the main flow control valve, used to regulate the supply of residential water and industrial water. In the drainage pipe, it is used to control the discharge of sewage and prevent the backflow of sewage.
