Product introduction
High-Pressure 45° Socket Weld Elbow
A specialized pipe fitting designed to change flow direction by 45° in high-pressure systems using a socket weld connection for superior leak resistance and structural integrity.
Key Features
1. Design & Construction
- 45° Angled Turn: Smoother flow diversion than 90° elbows for reduced turbulence
- Socket Weld Connection: Pipe inserts into the fitting's recessed "socket" for fillet welding
- Reinforced Structure: Thicker walls (SCH 80/160/XXS) for high-pressure containment
- Materials:
- ASTM A234 WP-WP9 (Carbon/alloy steel)
- ASTM A403 WP316/316L (Stainless)
- ASTM A182 F91 (High-temp chrome-moly)
2. Pressure-Temperature Ratings
- Class 3000/6000 per ASME B16.11
- Suitable for:
- ≤ 5,000 psi (345 bar) operating pressure
- -20°F to 1,000°F (-29°C to 538°C)
3. Critical Applications
- Hydraulic power units
- Steam injection lines
- Offshore oil & gas manifolds
- Power plant boiler feed systems
- High-pressure chemical processing
4. Advantages Over Threaded Elbows
- 50% stronger joints vs. threaded connections
- Zero thread galling** risk in cyclic service
- Smoother bore** for improved flow dynamics
- Vibration-resistant** welded construction
5. Installation Protocol
- 1.6mm gap must be maintained between pipe and shoulder for thermal expansion
- Full penetration welds required per ASME BPVC Sec.
- Post-weld heat treatment(PWHT) mandatory for alloy materials
6. Standards Compliance
- ASME B16.11** (Forged socket weld fittings)
- NACE MR0175** (Sour service compatibility)
- PED 2014/68/EU** (European pressure directive)
7. nspection Requirements
- 100% radiographic testing (RT) for Class 6000+
- Liquid penetrant examination (PT) of all welds
- Hydrostatic test at 1.5x design pressure
Why Select This Fitting?
Ideal for compact, high-P/T systems requiring:
✔ Reliable 45° directional changes
✔ Leak-proof performance
✔ Minimal maintenance
For corrosive services, specify electropolished 316L or alloy 625 versions.)
